South Hornchurch
Very young children aged 0-2 begin their Fledgelings journey in our spacious baby room, which is equipped with integrated facilities, including a dining area with low chairs. An adjoining quiet sleeping area ensures your child can rest peacefully throughout the day without being disturbed by others. We also follow the weaning process to complement your efforts at home. All the equipment and resources in the baby room are carefully selected to support your baby's developmental stages, with a focus on play while subtly introducing learning experiences during these crucial discovery years.
The room is a sensory adventure, featuring natural materials, soft toys, furnishings, and diverse textures. A quiet area allows children to sleep together in a group, ensuring they all receive the rest they need at this stage. Meals are shared, providing an opportunity for children to learn how to use cutlery and develop good table manners.
Children aged 2-3 continue their Fledgelings journey in our lovely toddler room, designed for children who are maturing and ready for more educational-based activities, while still keeping the focus on fun. At this stage, children begin to learn important lessons, such as imaginative play, through a variety of themed activities that support their development and prepare them for the next step—moving to pre-school.
We are committed to giving your child the best possible start to their education, with careful planning to ensure the learning environment meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. As your child prepares for the transition to pre-school, they will undergo transition periods with the support of their key person, helping them adjust to the new room and interact with older children, ensuring they are fully ready for their final move within the nursery.
Preschool Room (Ages 3 - 4 Years)
Children aged 3-4 complete their Fledgelings journey in our large pre-school room, where our highly qualified Early Years Foundation Stage Practitioners play a key role in ensuring your child follows a carefully planned curriculum designed to develop their skills in key areas of learning and development. Ongoing formative assessment is central to our approach, with staff observing children as they play and interact in everyday activities. By analysing these observations, we can plan meaningful experiences and opportunities that support their growth.
We also encourage teachers to visit the nursery to discuss school with the children and organise school visits so they can experience it firsthand. While we recognise the transition from nursery to school is a big step, the detailed planning and implementation throughout your child’s time at Fledgelings Day Nursery ensures they receive the best possible start for their future.
