Emma Farrow-Brookes
Welcome to our nursery! My name is Emma Farrow-Brookes, and I am delighted to be the Area SENDCO for Fledgelings Nurseries. With over a decade of experience in early childhood education, I am passionate about getting to know the children and their families. Understand and support the individual needs of children by ensuring the correct interventions are put in place.
Since a child myself I always knew I wanted to educate and care for children. Since a child myself I always knew I wanted to educate and care for children.
When leaving school I became a Youth Worker and then continued working with children by starting a career in Nursery Childcare. I am committed to supporting and caring for children with additional needs. I’ve been in childcare since 2001 and have been a Manager, long-standing Deputy Manager and SENDCO. I continue to extend my knowledge and expertise by attending regular training and parent courses/classes.
My role at Fledgelings Nurseries, is to support and guide practitioners, children and families by observing, assessing, planning, doing and reviewing. This is the Graduated Approach. I am here to meet with all practitioners and families, to discuss your child/ren’s development and to ensure we are giving your child/ren the best opportunity and support to meet the individual needs of your child. When working with your child/ren and identifying Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, we require parents/carers consent to enable us to provide the correct interventions to support your child/ren’s individual needs. This may also mean liaising and referring to other Health and Educational professionals. We work in accordance with the SEND Code Of Practice to the current legislations and process of working with children and their families.
I truly believe in giving children the best possible start in life by educating and caring. It is vital to spend quality time with children, getting to know how they like to learn and play. This gives key people the time to assess children’s development and to ensure we are applying the Graduated Approach for those children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Also to put in place the correct interventions of support to meet the individual needs of the children. Treat children equally to their needs and make appropriate reasonable adjustments where necessary. I am passionate that whilst children are at Nursery we are/practitioners are the main tool for children to learn, have fun and thrive. Children must feel valued, listened to and respected and given the best opportunities at Nursery before they go onto their journey at school.
I became a Mother and now have two wonderful boys, one of which has Autism and a rare genetic disorder. Since my Son’s diagnosis I now have better knowledge and understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and have a huge passion for supporting those children and their Families. I love music, dancing, being in the forest, mindfulness, yoga and family time.
